My thesis investigates how Russian migrants negotiate and/or create a sense of connectedness with their national culture through the organisation of their home life when living abroad. I am interested in material things and possessions which people keep in their homes and which help them to maintain their feeling “to be at home”. My research has centred on interviewing Russian immigrants about the ways in which they decorate their homes and the keepsakes that remind them of Russia. At present, I am on course to meet my submission date of September 2009.
