About
I completed my PhD in Architecture, Planning and Landscape at Newcastle University. My research focused on how users and renewable energy technologies are co-constructed in the context of the built environment. The work took solar photovoltaics as an example, and focused on how users interacted with the technology in different ways. It also explored the way users were imagined by the providers/managers of renewable energy installation projects, and how that influenced PV system design and use.
I have since worked on projects at Manchester Architecture Research Centre, exploring how energy is used in non-residential buildings and how new and sustainable technologies are integrated into buildings. I was also a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Central Lancashire, Centre for Sustainable Development between May and August, 2009. I then joined Imperial College Business School, in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship group looking at business models for decentralized rural electrification using renewable energy technologies.
I am currently a researcher at Tydall Centre, University of Manchester working on user acceptance of active demand side management technologies.
