About
Upon completion of his PhD, Fabien joined the Henry Modeley X-ray Imaging Facility in a Post-Doctoral position. His main interests lie in the development of software and hardware solutions relating to X-ray CT that will enable to provide the quantitative measurements that industry requires, rather than simple 3D qualitative images.
This project is performed in collaboration with two groups from the National Physical Laboratory. The research with the Freeform group aims at identifying the sources of error and distortion, developing techniques to characterise and correct for these errors, and creating procedures that enable reliable, quantifiable measurements to be made for both internal and external features. An extension of this work, performed with the Polymeric Materials Group, focuses on the reliable calculation of porosity of materials and its quantification in terms of accuracy and limitations.
Fabien is also part of the team that performs the commercial X-ray CT work for the National Composites Certification and Evaluation Facility (NCCEF).
