About
I'm from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad & Tobago. In 2004 I graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics with minors in Electronics & materials Science, at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad (UWI). Afterwards from 2004-2007, I did an M.Phil at UWI under the supervision of Professor Mauri Valtonen, from Turku University, Finland (a visiting professor at the time). My thesis title was "INVESTIGATING THE OPTICAL VARIABILITY OF THE BLAZAR OJ 287, USING THE SONNEBERG PLATE ARCHIVES: EVIDENCE FOR A BINARY BLACK HOLE SYSTEM".
Then in September 2007, I was accepted to pursue a PhD at the Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe (JIVE) & Leiden Observatory, Leiden University, the Netherlands, under the Marie-Curie programme, Early-stage training site for European long-wavelength astronomy (ESTRELA).
Unfortunately, after 16 months, I was told by Leiden University that my M.Phil degree is not accepted by the University and cannot permit me to pursue a PhD at Leiden. So, in September at the end of 2 years of research I will be moving to the University of Manchester, to pursue an M.Sc. by Research in Astronomy & Astrophysics, for my last year of the ESTRELA scholarship.
