Faculty Member, Politics

About
I have a D.Phil in political philosophy from Nuffield College, Oxford, and I joined the Manchester Centre for Political Theory in September 2003.
My research interests are in political and moral philosophy. Recent or forthcoming publications include articles in Ethics, Journal of Political Philosophy, and Philosophy & Public Affairs.
I recently published a book, Liberalism Without Perfection (Oxford University Press), which offers objections to liberal perfectionism and defends a version of political liberalism.
During 2010-11 I was a Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Faculty Fellow at Princeton's University Center for Human Values.
I am an associate editor for three journals:
Australasian Journal of Philosophy
Politics, Philosophy, & Economics
Representation: The Journal of Representative Democracy
