About

I completed a degree in German, French & Art History at the Universities of Tuebingen, Lyon & Padua, before receiving a PhD in Art History & Visual Studies at the University of Manchester in 2009.

I developed my thesis (entitled 'Reopening the Cabinet of Curiosities: Nature and the Marvellous in Surrealism and Contemporary Art') during a Henry Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship.

I currently hold a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship, researching the project 'A Cultural History of Coral, c. 1850-2010'.

I am organising an exhibition on coral in collaboration with the Manchester Museum, which is due to open in the autumn of 2013.

My book 'Coral: A Cultural History' will be published by Reaktion Books in 2014.
